Instituto Inhotim is more than just a museum; it's a sensory experience that marries contemporary art with the beauty of the natural world. Located in Brumadinho, about 60 km from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Inhotim was founded by Bernardo de Mello Paz in the mid-1980s and opened to the public in 2006. What began as a private collection has grown into one of the largest open-air art centers in Latin America, spanning almost 5,000 acres.Inhotim's collection features over 700 works by more than 60 artists from nearly 40 countries. The art is displayed both outdoors and in 24 galleries, including those dedicated to temporary exhibitions and permanent, solo artist displays. Artists like Tunga, Cildo Meireles, Yayoi Kusama, and Doris Salcedo are among the renowned figures whose work is showcased. The installations often engage with the surrounding landscape, creating a dialogue between art and nature.
