Getting There

  • Car

    From Bandar Seri Begawan, take the highway towards Tutong. Continue past Tutong Town, following signs for Mukim Rambai. The drive is approximately 70 kilometers and takes about an hour. Once in Mukim Rambai, follow the signs to Tasek Merimbun. There is no entry fee, and parking is available near the lake.

  • Public Transport

    From Bandar Seri Begawan, take a bus to Tutong Town. From Tutong Town, take a bus heading towards Bangar. Alight at the junction nearest to Tasek Merimbun; it's advisable to ask the bus driver for the best stop. From the junction, it is approximately a 2-kilometer walk to the lake following the road signs. The bus fare from Tutong to the junction is approximately BND 1.00. Be sure to check the bus schedules for your return trip.

  • Taxi/Ride-Hailing Service

    From Tutong Town, a taxi or ride-hailing service to Tasek Merimbun takes approximately 15 minutes. The fare may range from BND 15-25 depending on the starting point. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

It's a haven for diverse ecosystems, including peat swamp forests, mangroves, and lowland mixed dipterocarp forests. The park is home to a wide array of flora and fauna, including over 200 species of birds, making it an Important Bird Area. Keep an eye out for pitcher plants and the valuable agar wood.The area holds cultural significance as well, with the ethnic Dusun community considering the lake and its surrounding forests sacred. Archaeological finds on Pulau Jeludong point to the area's historical importance. Declared as Brunei's first ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984, Tasek Merimbun is recognized for its biodiversity conservation efforts.Visitors can explore the lake by boat, hike along nature trails, and relax in lakeside gazebos.
