Tasek Merimbun, located in the Tutong District of Brunei, is the nation's largest natural lake and a designated ASEAN Heritage Park. Approximately 70 kilometers from Bandar Seri Begawan, the lake is the centerpiece of the 7,800-hectare Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park.Formed around 5.7 million years ago, the lake's unique S-shape and dark waters, caused by tannins from falling leaves, create a mesmerizing landscape. The park encompasses diverse ecosystems, including peat swamp forests, mangroves, and lowland mixed dipterocarp forests, making it a biodiversity hotspot. Over 200 species of birds have been recorded in the park, making it an Important Bird Area.Tasek Merimbun has cultural significance, with the ethnic Dusun community considering the lake and surrounding forests sacred. The park features Pulau Jeludong, an archaeological site with ancient ancestral remains. Visitors can explore the lake by environment-friendly boat rides, hike nature trails, relax at lakeside gazebos, and visit the Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park museum. The park also offers chalet facilities for researchers.

Car
From Bandar Seri Begawan, take the highway towards Tutong. Continue to Tutong Town, then head northwest on Jalan Tutong towards Jalan Kianggeh. Follow Jalan Kianggeh for about 6 kilometers until you reach the Tasek Merimbun road sign. Turn left onto the access road and follow the signs for approximately 3 kilometers until you arrive at Tasek Merimbun. Parking is available near the lake.
Public Transport
From Bandar Seri Begawan, take a bus to Tutong Town. From Tutong Town, take another bus heading towards Bangar. Alight at the nearest junction to Tasek Merimbun, which is around a 2-kilometer walk to the lake. Bus fare from Mukim Bangar is approximately BND 1-2. Check bus schedules for the return trip.
Taxi/Ride-Hailing Service
From Tutong Town, a taxi or ride-hailing service to Tasek Merimbun takes approximately 15 minutes. Simply provide the driver with the destination 'Tasek Merimbun' and confirm the fare before the journey. Expect to pay around BND 15-20.
