Discover more about Несебър, България

Nesebar, often called the "Pearl of the Black Sea," is a town with a rich history stretching back over 3,200 years. Originally a Thracian settlement known as Melsambria, it later became a Greek colony and an important port during the Roman and Byzantine eras. The town's strategic location on a peninsula made it a valuable stronghold, with control frequently shifting between the Bulgarians and Byzantines. Today, Nesebar is divided into an old and a new part, connected by a narrow isthmus. The old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983, is a treasure trove of historical monuments, including ancient fortifications and medieval churches. Notable landmarks include the Church of Saint Sophia, the Church of Christ Pantokrator, and the remnants of the ancient fortress walls. Many of the houses in the Old Town were built during the Bulgarian Revival Period (18th – 19th centuries). Wander through the labyrinthine cobbled streets, explore the archaeological museum, and soak in the atmosphere of this unique coastal town. Enjoy the sea views, relax on the small beach, and savor traditional Bulgarian cuisine in one of the many restaurants. Nesebar offers a blend of historical intrigue and seaside charm, making it a must-visit destination on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
