Park St. Vrach, a source of pride for the residents of Sandanski, extends over 344 acres on both banks of the Sandanska Bistrica River. Named after the town's ancient moniker in 1981, the park is a unique landscape monument, distinguished by its sandy alleys, a rare feature in Bulgaria. The park boasts over 160 plant species, including ancient plane trees recognized as natural landmarks, as well as slender sequoias, magnolias, willows, ginkgo biloba, cork oak, yew, and pomegranate trees. The Sandanska Bistrica River flows through the park, crossed by swinging wooden bridges. Visitors can also find wooden gazebos and playgrounds. Within the park's verdant expanse, you'll discover a stadium, summer theater, outdoor pool, and a pond with boats and pedalos. The park also serves as a venue for cultural events and festivals, enriching the visitor experience. The main entrance features a concrete map of Northern Pirin, created by the mountaineer Nicolas Mironski. Park St. Vrach seamlessly transitions into a larger forest park, forming what locals call the "green necklace" of Sandanski.
