Рибното езеро: A Tranquil Jewel in the Rila Mountains

Рибното езеро, or Fish Lake, is the sixth lake in the famed Seven Rila Lakes group, located in the Rila Mountains. Situated at 2,184 meters above sea level, it is the shallowest of the seven, with an average depth of just 1.10 meters. Its name comes from the fish that inhabit its waters. The lake is fed by the outflow from the Trilistnika (The Trefoil) lake and drains into the Dolnoto ezero (The Lower Lake). A chalet, хижа „Седемте езера“ (Seven Lakes Lodge), is located on the northeastern shore, offering basic accommodations and a place to rest. A path leading to the new Rila Lakes hut starts at the western end of the lake. Visiting during the summer months, particularly July and August, is recommended when temperatures are milder and the risk of storms is lower. During this time, the weather is pleasant for hiking and enjoying the stunning scenery. However, be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends. The lakes typically freeze in October, with ice cover lasting until June.
