Public Transport - Bus
From the center of Shumen, head to the main bus station, which is located at 'Ulitsa Tsar Osvoboditel'. Look for the bus heading towards Madara. Buses typically run every hour. The journey to Madara takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Madara bus stop, you will see signs directing you to the Madara Horseman. It's about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
Walking
If you are in the center of Shumen and prefer to walk, head northeast towards 'Ulitsa General Gurko' and follow it until you reach 'Ulitsa Vasil Levski'. Continue straight until you reach 'Ulitsa Madara', where you will see signs for the Madara Horseman. The total walking distance is approximately 12 kilometers, and it may take around 2.5 to 3 hours to reach your destination on foot.
Taxi
For a more convenient option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Shumen. Simply ask your hotel or any local to call a taxi for you, or use a ride-hailing app if available. Provide the driver the address '9971 Madara', and the journey will take around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are a bit more expensive but will take you directly to the entrance of the Madara Horseman.
