Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Sofia Valley and head towards Sofia city center. Use the main roads like the A1 highway or the local roads depending on your starting point. Once in Sofia, follow the signs to the 'Vitosha Boulevard' and then merge onto 'Slivnitsa Blvd'. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with 'Bulevard Tsarigradsko Shose'. Turn left onto 'Bulevard Tsarigradsko Shose', then take the exit for 'Bulevard Alexander Stamboliyski'. Follow this road until you reach the 'Pancharevo' area. From here, follow signs towards 'Kokalyane'. The Urvich Fortress is located at 82, 1151 Sofia. There is a parking area near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Urvich Fortress using public transportation, start from Sofia city center. Take metro line M1 (the red line) towards 'Business Park'. Get off at 'Serdika' station and transfer to bus number 3 or 26. After boarding the bus, travel towards 'Kokalyane'. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Disembark at the 'Kokalyane' stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 20 minutes to reach Urvich Fortress, which is about 1.5 km away. Follow the signs leading to the fortress; the path is well-marked and scenic.
Walking
If you're already in the Kokalyane area, you can walk to Urvich Fortress. From the center of Kokalyane, head southwest on 'Ulitsa Tsar Samuil' for about 1.5 km. The walking path is pleasant and surrounded by nature. Look for the signs indicating the direction to Urvich Fortress, and enjoy the views along the way. It will take you approximately 20-30 minutes to reach the fortress on foot.
