Discover more about Pantheon

The Pantheon, officially the Monument of the Strugglers Against Fascism and Capitalism, stands as a solemn tribute within Varna's Sea Garden. Inaugurated on November 6, 1959, it commemorates those who lost their lives in the struggle against fascism from 1923 to 1944. The monument's history began in 1945 with a common grave for those killed fighting against fascism and capitalism. A decision was made to move the remains to a new location in the Catholic cemetery, where a monument to French warriors who died of cholera during the Crimean War was located. The bones from the common grave were then moved into the new Pantheon. The Pantheon features a striking statue of two warriors, one wounded but still fighting. Below the statue are seven stone reliefs depicting various scenes. In 1995, the remains were exhumed and given to relatives for burial. The Pantheon was declared a historical monument in 1971. Today, the Pantheon serves as a place for reflection and remembrance within the beautiful surroundings of Varna's Sea Garden.
