The monument in Asparuhovo serves as a tribute to Khan Asparuh, the founder of the First Bulgarian Empire in 681 AD. Asparuhovo Park, where the monument is located, was conceived in 1934 with the aim of transforming the area near the Asparuhova Val into a park and memorial.The park officially opened in August 1935 and included a bust of Khan Asparuh and a sculpture of an Asparuhov warrior. The warrior, dressed in battle attire, faces the sea. A marble column with ancient Bulgarian symbols is also part of the monument. Today, Asparuhovo Park is a place for relaxation and cultural events.Asparuhovo itself is a district of Varna with a population of around 27,000. It is located south of the city center, connected by the Asparuhov Bridge. The area offers a more tranquil environment compared to the bustling city center and is known for its local charm, beaches, and parks.
