Driving
Driving from Sofia to the Balkan Mountains takes about 3.5 hours via the E772 and E871. The driving distance is approximately 178 km. Consider destinations like the Central Balkan National Park. Be aware that road conditions in mountainous areas can be challenging, especially in winter. A vignette is required to drive on Bulgarian roads; a weekly vignette costs around 8 EUR.
