Getting There

  • Car

From Karusi town center, head east on Avenue de la Réunification until you reach the intersection with Route Nationale 5 (RN5). Turn right onto RN5 and continue driving for approximately 60 km. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Ruvubu National Park, which will be on your left. The park entrance is well-marked, and you will need to pay an entrance fee of approximately 5,000 BIF per person. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as gas stations may be sparse on this route.

  • Public Transportation

Start at the main bus station in Karusi. Look for a bus heading towards Gitega or Nyabihanga. Inform the driver or conductor that you want to get off at the Ruvubu National Park junction. The fare is around 1,000 BIF. Once you arrive at the junction, you may need to take a motorcycle taxi (known as 'moto') to the park entrance, which should cost about 2,000 BIF. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand.
