Car
Starting from the center of Makamba, head northwest on Avenue de l'Indépendance. Follow this road for approximately 8 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route Nationale 1. Turn left onto Route Nationale 1 and continue for about 10 kilometers. You will pass through several small villages. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Kiremera, as you will need to turn off onto a smaller road. After about 15 kilometers on Route Nationale 1, turn right onto the road marked for Kiremera. Drive straight for another 5 kilometers until you reach JWG9+QHC, the location of Buiya Bari. There are no substantial tolls on this route, but ensure your vehicle is in good condition for the journey.
Public Transportation
From the main bus station in Makamba, look for a bus heading towards Kiremera. Buses leave frequently, and the fare should be around 1,500 Burundian Francs. The journey will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Kiremera, ask the bus driver or locals for directions to JWG9+QHC. It’s roughly a 15-20 minute walk from the bus drop-off point to the hiking area. Ensure to plan your trip according to local bus schedules, as they may vary.
