Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Santa Maria, head towards the beach area. Walk along the main promenade (Avenida dos Liceus) until you reach the end of the beach. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the Sal International Airport. At this point, you will take a left onto the road (Rua 1) that leads towards the airport. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer until you reach a fork in the road. Keep right at the fork and continue walking straight for another 3 kilometers. You will see signs guiding you towards Deserto de Viana on your left. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at your destination.

  • Bicycle

    Starting from the Santa Maria market, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Head towards the main road (Avenida dos Liceus) and follow it south towards the beach. Once you reach the beach, take the road leading away from the ocean towards the airport. After about 1 kilometer, keep right at the fork in the road and continue straight for approximately 3 kilometers. Look out for signs directing you to Deserto de Viana on your left. It will be a short ride of about 30 minutes.
