If you are traveling by car, start your journey in the town of Porto Novo, which is located in the southern part of Santo Antão. Head north on the main road, Estrada do Porto Novo, and follow the signs towards the ferry port. The drive will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the port, you will need to take a ferry to São Vicente. Make sure to check the ferry schedule in advance as it may vary. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes and costs around 20-30 CVE (Cabo Verdean Escudo). Upon arrival at the Mindelo ferry terminal in São Vicente, you can explore the island by car or use local taxis.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, head to the Porto Novo bus terminal and look for a bus heading to the ferry port. Buses run regularly and cost approximately 100 CVE. Once you arrive at the ferry port, purchase your ticket for the ferry to São Vicente. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes.
