Discover more about Grand Canyon Diorama

The Grand Canyon Diorama, a classic Disneyland attraction since 1958, offers a captivating glimpse into the American West. Located along the Disneyland Railroad route, this detailed diorama presents a miniature representation of the Grand Canyon's South Rim, complete with rugged terrain, a flowing river, and diverse vegetation. Originally billed as the "Longest Diorama in the World," the 306-foot-long display was designed by Claude Coats and painted by Delmer J. Yoakum. Guests can view a variety of indigenous animals, including a mountain lion, deer, and eagles, amidst quaking aspens and pine trees. The scenery transitions through various times of day, from snow-capped peaks to a desert sunset, accompanied by Ferde Grofé's "Grand Canyon Suite". In 1966, the diorama expanded to include Audio-Animatronics® dinosaurs from the 1964 New York World's Fair, creating a prehistoric scene. This addition takes visitors back in time, showcasing a battle between a Tyrannosaurus and a Stegosaurus. The Grand Canyon Diorama remains a beloved part of Disneyland, offering a blend of natural beauty, artistry, and Disney magic.
