Getting There
Car
If you're driving to Yosemite National Park, start by using a GPS device or a navigation app. From the nearest major city, such as Fresno or Merced, take CA-41 N or CA-140 E, respectively. Follow the signs for Yosemite National Park. Once you reach the park entrance at South Entrance, you'll need to pay a vehicle entrance fee of $35, which is valid for seven days. After entering, continue on the main road to find popular destinations like Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point, and Mariposa Grove.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to Merced, CA. From Merced, transfer to the YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System) bus, which provides service to Yosemite National Park. Check the YARTS schedule for the most up-to-date routes and times. The fare for YARTS is about $5 one way. Make sure to check if you need to reserve a seat in advance, especially during peak season.
Biking
For adventurous travelers, consider biking to Yosemite if you're within a short distance. Ensure your bike is in good condition and you have all necessary gear. The roads leading into the park can be steep and winding, so be prepared for a challenging ride. Note that once you enter the park, you’ll need to pay the standard vehicle entrance fee of $35 if you are biking in with a vehicle.
