From downtown Berkeley, walk to the nearest bus stop at Shattuck Ave & University Ave. Take the AC Transit Bus 52 towards Bay St. Once on the bus, stay on for about 25 minutes until you reach the stop at California St & 19th Ave. From there, transfer to the Muni Bus 5R towards the Richmond District and ride for approximately 10 minutes. Get off at the stop at Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr, which is a short walk from the de Young Museum.

If you're comfortable cycling, rent a bike from one of the bike-share stations in Berkeley. Head south on Shattuck Ave, then take a left on Ashby Ave and continue until you reach the Embarcadero. Follow the bike lane along the waterfront and enter Golden Gate Park via the entrance at Stanyan St. Continue to Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. The de Young Museum will be on your right.

If you prefer to walk, start at the Berkeley campus. Exit onto Bancroft Way and head towards Telegraph Ave. From there, walk south on Telegraph Ave until you reach the intersection with Ashby Ave. Turn left on Ashby Ave and continue until you reach the corner with the Embarcadero. Walk through Golden Gate Park, following the signs towards the de Young Museum. It’s about a 2-hour walk, so wear comfortable shoes!
