Public Bus
From downtown Berkeley, walk to the nearest bus stop on Shattuck Avenue. Take the AC Transit Bus 72 or 72M towards San Francisco. Ride for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the Marin City bus stop. Once you disembark, transfer to the Marin Transit Bus 61 towards Sausalito. After about 10 more minutes, get off at the Fort Barry stop. From there, it's a short walk to the Marin Headlands Visitor Center located at 948 Fort Barry.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Berkeley. Head west towards the Golden Gate Bridge, aiming for the Marin Headlands. Follow the bike path along the waterfront until you reach the bridge. Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and then take the first exit towards Alexander Avenue. Follow the signs for Marin Headlands, and after about 5 miles of cycling, you will arrive at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center at 948 Fort Barry.
Walking
Although walking to the Marin Headlands from Berkeley is quite a distance, if you're feeling adventurous, start by walking to the Berkeley Marina. From there, follow the shoreline towards the Golden Gate Bridge. Once you reach the bridge, walk across it and then follow the paths leading into the Marin Headlands. Keep an eye out for directional signs; the Visitor Center is about 4 miles from the bridge. This journey may take several hours, so be prepared for a long walk.
Rideshare
If you prefer a quicker option, use a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft. Set your destination to 'Marin Headlands Visitor Center, 948 Fort Barry, Sausalito, CA 94965'. The driver will take you directly to the Visitor Center. Be sure to confirm the driver's identity before getting in and enjoy the scenic drive through the Marin Headlands.
