Walking
If you are starting from the Big Sur River Inn, head southeast along the river on River Street. This will lead you to Highway 1. Once you reach Highway 1, turn left and walk along the shoulder of the highway. Continue walking for about 2 miles until you reach the entrance to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. From here, you can follow the park’s hiking trails toward the coast. Keep an eye out for directional signs. After about 3 miles of hiking, you will reach the edge of the state park where you can enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Continue along the path until you come to a fork, and take the path leading toward Carmel. This should lead you to the vicinity of the WWI Memorial Bell Tower.
