    From downtown San Francisco, several Muni lines provide access to Golden Gate Park. The 5 Fulton and 5R Fulton Rapid buses stop along the north side of the park. The N Judah light rail line travels south of the park, stopping along Irving and Judah streets. From these points, it's a short walk to the Bison Paddock. A single Muni fare is around $3.

    If you are already within Golden Gate Park, follow John F. Kennedy Drive west towards the western side of the park. The Bison Paddock is located just west of Spreckels Lake, and is easily accessible by foot. There is no cost for walking.

The first bison, a bull named Ben Harrison, arrived in 1891. Over the years, the park's herd produced over 500 calves, playing a vital role in saving the species.Today, the Bison Paddock remains a popular attraction, offering a glimpse into the past and a reminder of successful conservation efforts. The current herd consists of female bison, ensuring a peaceful group dynamic.
