Public Transportation
From Castro Valley, take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train at Castro Valley Station towards San Francisco/Daly City. Ride until you reach the Montgomery St. Station in San Francisco. Once you exit the train, follow the signs to the Market St. exit. After exiting, walk northwest on Market St. towards 1st St. Turn left onto 1st St. and walk until you reach the Embarcadero. From there, take the Muni bus 39 towards the 'Coit Tower' and get off at the 'Filbert St & Hyde St' stop. Walk a short distance to the Filbert Steps located at 202 Filbert St.
Walking from Public Transport
If you choose to take the Muni bus from the Montgomery St. Station, you can also walk to the Filbert Steps. From Montgomery St., head north on Montgomery towards Vallejo St. Turn right on Vallejo St. and walk until you reach the intersection with Filbert St. Turn left onto Filbert St. and continue walking until you reach the Filbert Steps at 202 Filbert St. It’s a scenic route with beautiful views of the bay and the city.
