From Castro Valley, walk to the nearest bus stop at Castro Valley BART Station. Take the BART train towards San Francisco/Daly City and get off at the Montgomery St. Station. Once you exit the station, walk towards Market St and catch the Muni bus 8X towards Bayview Hunter's Point. Get off at the stop at Columbus Ave & Filbert St. From there, it's just a short walk to Washington Square Park, which is located at the intersection of Filbert St and Stockton St.

Start at Castro Valley BART Station and take the BART train towards San Francisco/Daly City. Get off at the Embarcadero Station. Transfer to the Muni line 12, 30, or 45 towards the North Beach area.
