Public Bus
From Castro Valley, head to the nearest bus stop and board the AC Transit Bus Line 33 towards Hayward BART. Ride until you reach the Hayward BART station. Once at Hayward BART, transfer to the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system and take the San Francisco/Daly City train. Alight at the 24th Street Mission station. Exit the station and catch the Muni Metro Line K-Ingleside or M-Line towards California Academy of Sciences. Get off at the 'Stanyan St & Frederick St' stop. From there, it's a pleasant walk uphill to Sutro Tower located at 1 La Avanzada St, San Francisco, CA 94131.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Castro Valley. Head towards Lake Chabot Road and follow it north until you reach the Castro Valley Boulevard. Take Castro Valley Boulevard to the east until you reach the intersection with Foothill Boulevard. Turn right on Foothill Boulevard and continue north until you reach the BART station. From there, you can take a BART train to 24th Street Mission station and switch to Muni Metro Line K-Ingleside or M-Line. Get off at 'Stanyan St & Frederick St' and bike the remainder uphill to Sutro Tower.
Walking
If you're up for a walk and want to enjoy the sights, you can walk to the nearest BART station, Castro Valley BART. From there, take the BART train towards San Francisco. Change at 24th Street Mission and take the Muni Metro Line K-Ingleside or M-Line towards California Academy of Sciences. Alight at 'Stanyan St & Frederick St' and enjoy a scenic walk to the Sutro Tower, which is about a 20-minute hike uphill.
