To reach San Clemente from Costa Mesa using public transportation, head to the nearest bus stop on 19th Street and Newport Boulevard. You will take the OCTA Bus route 1 towards San Clemente. The bus will make several stops along the way, including major areas like South Coast Plaza and Newport Beach. Stay on the bus for approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Clemente bus station, you can walk to various attractions in the area or enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

To get to San Clemente by train, walk to the nearest Amtrak station in Costa Mesa, which is located at 1550 S. Coast Highway. From there, take the Metrolink train on the Orange County Line towards San Juan Capistrano. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Juan Capistrano station, transfer to the Metrolink service towards Oceanside and get off at the San Clemente station. The San Clemente station is a short walk from the beach and downtown area.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Costa Mesa. From there, head south on 19th Street, which will take you to the Santa Ana River Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Continue along the PCH heading towards San Clemente, which is about 15 miles away. The ride will take you through scenic coastal views, and once you arrive in San Clemente, you can explore the beaches and shops along the coast.
