Bus
From Costa Mesa, head to the nearest bus stop. You can take the OCTA Bus Route 1, which runs from Costa Mesa to San Clemente. Board the bus heading south and stay on until you reach the San Clemente Pier. The journey takes approximately 45-60 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Clemente Pier stop, you will be directly at the entrance to the pier.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Costa Mesa. Start by heading to the Santa Ana River Trail, which you can access from various points in the city. Follow the trail south until you reach the coast, then continue along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) towards San Clemente. The ride is about 14 miles and will take around 1-2 hours depending on your speed. Once you reach San Clemente, follow the signs to the pier.
Train
Walk to the nearest Metrolink station in Costa Mesa, which is located at the Santa Ana station. Purchase a ticket for the Orange County Line heading south toward San Diego. The train ride to the San Clemente station takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the San Clemente station, exit and follow the signs to the San Clemente Pier, which is about a 15-minute walk (0.6 miles) from the station.
