Public Bus
From your location in Glendale, walk to the nearest bus stop. You can catch the Metro Bus Line 180 or 181 heading towards Pasadena. After about 30 minutes, get off at the 'North Hollywood Station' stop. From there, transfer to the Metro Red Line subway towards Union Station and travel for about 15 minutes, getting off at the 'Hollywood/Highland' station. Exit the station and transfer to the Metro Bus Line 704, which will take you directly to Santa Monica. This leg of the trip takes around 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Santa Monica Pier' stop.
Metro Train
Head to the nearest Metro station in Glendale, which is the 'Glendale Station' on the Metro Line. Board the Metro Line towards Union Station. After about 25 minutes, transfer at Union Station to the Metro Expo Line towards Santa Monica. Stay on the Expo Line for about 40 minutes until you arrive at the 'Downtown Santa Monica Station'. From there, it's just a short walk to Santa Monica Beach and the Pier.
Walking and Public Transport
If you prefer to walk, head towards the Glendale Metro Link Station, which takes about 15 minutes from central Glendale. Once at the station, take the Metro Link train towards Union Station. The train ride should take approximately 30 minutes. At Union Station, transfer to the Metro Expo Line towards Santa Monica. This train ride will take about 40 minutes. Upon reaching the 'Downtown Santa Monica Station', you can walk to the beach in about 5 minutes.
Ride-sharing Services
For a more direct route, use a ride-sharing app like Uber or Lyft. Request a ride to Santa Monica, and the driver will pick you up from your location in Glendale. The ride should take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Just provide the driver with the destination: 'Santa Monica, California'.
