Driving & Parking

To reach Lower Eagle Falls, navigate to Emerald Bay State Park on Highway 89, approximately 12 miles from South Lake Tahoe. Parking is available at the Emerald Bay State Park entrance. The parking fee is $10 for day use or $3 for one hour. The parking lot fills quickly, especially during peak season, so arrive early. Be aware that roadside parking may be restricted. As of July 15, 2025, a new shuttle service operates daily from 9 AM to 5 PM between the West and South Shores and Emerald Bay. A roundtrip ticket costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 13 and under.
Walking

From the Emerald Bay State Park parking lot, follow the Vikingsholm Trail down to Emerald Bay. The trail is well-signed. The descent is approximately one mile and can be steep. Once at Emerald Bay, continue towards the visitor center and then follow the signs to Lower Eagle Falls. The trail to the falls is a short, uphill walk. Be prepared for some rocky steps. The total hiking distance to Lower Eagle Falls is about 2.5 miles round trip.
