From the Irvine Spectrum Center, walk to the nearest bus stop on Spectrum Center Drive. Board the OCTA Bus #86 towards Huntington Beach. Ride for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Pacific Coast Highway & Warner Avenue. From there, transfer to the OCTA Bus #1 heading south towards Balboa Island. After about 15 minutes, get off at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve stop, which is a short walk to your destination.

If you're up for a bike ride, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Irvine. Head west on Michelson Drive until you reach the San Diego Creek Trail. Follow the trail towards the coast for about 8 miles, which will take you to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. The route is mostly flat and follows scenic pathways. Once you reach the Pacific Coast Highway, follow the signs to the reserve.
