Public Transportation
Begin your journey at the Irvine Transportation Center. Take the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus route 86 towards Laguna Hills. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the stop at Portola Parkway and Sand Canyon Avenue. From there, walk north on Portola Parkway for about 10 minutes until you reach the entrance to the Portola Springs neighborhood. Continue walking straight into Portola Springs, and you will find the Portola Expedition Monument on your left, near the community park.

Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, start at the Irvine Civic Center and head east on Alton Parkway. Follow Alton Parkway until you reach the intersection with Sand Canyon Avenue. Turn left onto Sand Canyon Avenue and continue until you reach Portola Parkway. Turn right onto Portola Parkway and continue straight for about 2 miles. You will reach the entrance to Portola Springs; the monument is a short walk from there. Make sure to use bike lanes wherever available for a safer ride.

If you are close to the Portola Springs area, you can walk directly to the monument. Look for the nearest entry point into Portola Springs and follow the walking paths towards the community park.
