If you're starting from the center of Joshua Tree, head east on Highway 62. Continue walking until you reach the corner of Highway 62 and Park Boulevard. This is about a 1-mile trek. At this intersection, you'll see signage for Joshua Tree National Park. Continue south on Park Boulevard for approximately 1.5 miles. You'll pass the entrance to the national park, so keep an eye out for the signs directing you towards various trailheads. After about 1.5 miles, you will come to a junction where you can see signs for Hi-View Trailhead. Follow the signs to the left. The trailhead is located about 0.5 miles down this road.

If you have a bike, you can cycle from the center of Joshua Tree. Start by heading east on Highway 62, and then turn south on Park Boulevard. This route is approximately 2 miles and is relatively flat, making for an enjoyable ride. As you bike along Park Boulevard, watch for signs directing you to various trails within Joshua Tree National Park. Once you reach the junction for Hi-View Trailhead, continue down the road for about 0.5 miles, and you will reach the trailhead.
