Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From La Jolla, head to the nearest bus stop, which is likely at La Jolla Village Drive and Torrey Pines Road. Take the MTS bus route 30 towards Downtown San Diego. Ride the bus until you reach the 'San Ysidro Transit Center.' This trip will take approximately 40-50 minutes. Once at the transit center, transfer to the MTS bus route 225 towards 'Playas de Tijuana.' Stay on this bus for about 30 minutes, and it will drop you off near Playas Coronado in Tijuana. Make sure to have your passport handy for crossing the border.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle in La Jolla. Start from La Jolla Cove and head south on Coast Boulevard until you reach the end of the coast. From there, follow the signs to the bike path that leads towards the border. You will need to navigate through some streets to reach the border crossing at San Ysidro. Once you cross into Tijuana, continue riding along the main road towards Playas Coronado. The total distance is about 15 miles and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed.
