Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Laguna Beach Visitor Center located at 381 Forest Ave, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. From the Visitor Center, head south on Forest Avenue toward Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Turn right onto PCH and walk for about 0.5 miles. Look for the entrance to Thousand Steps Beach on your left. Descend the staircase to the beach. Once you reach the beach, head south along the shoreline for about 0.3 miles until you reach Mermaid Beach, which is a smaller, more secluded area of the coast.

• Public Transport

  If you are starting from the downtown Laguna Beach area, you can take the Laguna Beach Trolley. Board the trolley at any of the trolley stops and ride until you reach the stop at Thousand Steps Beach. This stop is located at Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Pacific Avenue. Once you disembark, follow the pedestrian path down the staircase to the beach. After you reach the beach, walk south along the shoreline for approximately 0.3 miles until you arrive at Mermaid Beach.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in downtown Laguna Beach. Start at the Laguna Beach Bike Rental located at 1550 S Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. Head south on Coast Highway for about 1 mile, then make a right onto Pacific Coast Highway and continue to the Thousand Steps Beach entrance. Park your bike at the bike rack, descend the staircase to the beach, and continue south along the shore for about 0.3 miles to reach Mermaid Beach.
