Driving
From San Francisco, cross the Golden Gate Bridge (US-101 N). Take the Alexander Avenue exit immediately after the bridge. Follow Alexander Avenue and turn left onto Bunker Road. Bunker Road provides access to most of the Marin Headlands' attractions. Be aware that Conzelman Road, a scenic route, is one-way in certain sections. Parking is available at various locations throughout the Headlands, including near Battery Spencer, Hawk Hill, and Rodeo Beach. Parking is free, but can be limited, especially on weekends. Note that there is no fee to enter the Marin Headlands, but there is a toll to cross the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco ($9.40 for FasTrak users, $9.75 for one-time payment). Parking is free.
Public Transport
From San Francisco, take the Golden Gate Transit Route 101 or 130 bus to the Spencer Avenue Bus Pad in Sausalito. From there, you can access trailheads leading into the Marin Headlands. Alternatively, on weekends and holidays, take the 76X Muni route, which makes stops between San Francisco and the Fort Cronkhite parking lot. From the Fort Cronkhite/Rodeo Beach area, you can access many trails and attractions within the Headlands. Golden Gate Transit fares vary depending on the distance traveled, but a one-way trip from San Francisco to Sausalito typically costs around $4 - $7. The 76X Muni route costs standard Muni fares ($3 per ride, or included with a Muni Passport).
Taxi/Ride-Share
From anywhere in San Francisco, you can take a taxi or ride-sharing service (Uber/Lyft) directly to the Marin Headlands. Specify your destination as a specific location within the Headlands, such as the Marin Headlands Visitor Center, Battery Spencer, or Rodeo Beach. The cost will vary depending on the distance and demand, but expect to pay between $30-$60 for a one-way trip from downtown San Francisco. Note that you will still need to pay the Golden Gate Bridge toll if crossing from San Francisco.
