Public Transport
From downtown Mountain View, the easiest way to reach NASA Ames is via the VTA bus line 51. This bus departs from the Mountain View Caltrain station (corner of Castro & El Camino) and stops at North Akron & McCord, a short walk from the NASA Ames main gate. The bus ride takes approximately 20-30 minutes, and the walk to the entrance is about 5-10 minutes. A single ride on VTA costs $2.50.
Taxi/Ride-Share
A taxi or ride-sharing service (Uber/Lyft) from downtown Mountain View to NASA Ames Research Center takes approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The estimated cost is $12-$15. Be sure to specify 'NASA Ames Research Center Main Gate' as your destination.
Driving
If driving from Highway 101, take the Moffett Blvd/NASA Parkway exit (Exit 398). Follow the signs to NASA Ames Research Center. Upon arrival at the main gate, inform the security guard of your intention to visit the Exploration Center or Moffett Field Museum. Free parking is available behind the Visitor Center tent. Note that you will need to show your driver's license to the security guard.
