Discover more about Napa Valley Museum

Nestled in the heart of Yountville, the Napa Valley Museum is dedicated to enriching the cultural fabric of the community by offering exhibitions, collections, educational programs, and creative activities. Founded in 1972, the museum initially aimed to preserve Vintage Hall in St. Helena. In 1998, it moved to its current location in Yountville, between Napa and St. Helena, on land leased from the California State Veterans Home. The museum features three galleries: the Main Gallery, which hosts major art exhibitions; the Spotlight Gallery, showcasing local and regional artists; and the History Gallery, which displays selections from the museum's permanent collection. The permanent collection includes approximately 15,000 items, such as mineralogical and geological specimens, Native American artifacts, and artwork by California artists. These items reflect the history of Napa Valley as a world-class wine-producing region. Exhibitions cover a wide range of subjects, from fine arts to history and natural sciences. Past exhibits have included "Dangerous Games: Treacherous Toys We Loved As Kids," "Kitchen Gizmos & Gadgets from the Kathleen Hill Culinary Collection," and "Walt Disney's Trains". In 2025, the museum expanded to a new flagship location called Napa Valley Museum of Art & Culture (“the MAC”) just south of St Helena. The Napa Valley Museum also offers a variety of family-friendly activities, including free family fun activities every second Saturday of the month. The museum is committed to presenting exhibits that will entertain and educate the local community and visitors from around the world.
