Discover more about Roche Winery

Roche Winery, established in 1987 by Drs. Joseph and Genevieve Roche, offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in winemaking while experiencing Irish hospitality. The Roche family sought a peaceful escape from San Francisco in the late 1970s and found themselves in Sonoma Valley. Initially, they didn't plan to grow grapes, but encouragement from a local farmer led them to plant their first vineyards in 1982. Today, Roche Winery has two locations: the downtown Sonoma tasting room and the main winery and production facility. The downtown tasting room on Sonoma Square is in a historic craftsman home and has indoor and outdoor bars, a fire pit, and a shaded garden patio. The main winery, in the Carneros AVA, provides an immersive experience. Visitors can enjoy daily barrel tastings, explore the production area, and relax in the indoor tasting room or the outdoor patio. The outdoor "Tasting Plaza" features fireplaces, cabanas, and private group tasting areas, with views of the vineyards. Roche Winery is committed to sustainability, managing its vineyards to ensure the health of the land and the quality of the grapes. The knowledgeable staff shares the Roche family’s story and guides guests through the wines. Roche Winery also hosts events, including wine club gatherings and summer brunch and dinner series.
