Built during the Great Depression by Samuele Sebastiani of the Sebastiani wine family, the theater was designed by James W. Reid in the Italian Renaissance style. The opening night featured the film "Fugitive Lovers," with admission priced at 30 cents. For decades, the Sebastiani Theatre has been a venue for blockbuster movies, foreign films, and live theatrical events. In addition to films, the theater hosts a variety of live performances, including music, ballet, opera, and musical theater. The Sebastiani Theatre Foundation is dedicated to offering first-class performing arts, films and creative educational programs to inspire and entertain the community and to enhance and preserve the historic theatre for the enjoyment of current and future generations.     Walking

    From Sonoma Plaza, the Sebastiani Theatre is a short, direct walk east on 1st Street East. The theater is located directly across from the Plaza and is easily visible. The walk is flat and straightforward, taking only a few minutes.

    Public Transport

    Sonoma County Transit provides local service in Sonoma and Sonoma Valley via Route 32, the Sonoma Shuttle. Route 32 operates Monday through Saturday. All Sonoma Shuttle trips serve the Plaza in downtown Sonoma, a short walk from the theater. Check Sonoma County Transit for routes and schedules. Fares on routes 30, 34 & 40 vary between $1.50 & $3.00 for adults and $0.75 to $1.50 for seniors.

    Taxi/Ride-Share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available in Sonoma. Request a drop-off at the Sonoma Plaza, and from there, it's a short walk to the Sebastiani Theatre. Expect to pay around $10-$15 for a short ride within Sonoma.

    Driving

    If driving, approach the Sonoma Plaza area. Limited free street parking is available around the Plaza, with a 3-hour time limit between 9 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Saturday. A smaller public parking lot is located directly behind the Sebastiani Theatre, with an entrance off East Napa Street. This lot also includes charging stations for electric vehicles. Parking is free in the public lots.
