Discover more about Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery

Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery, a name synonymous with Sonoma Valley wine, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of its founder, Samuele Sebastiani. Established in 1904, the winery has been a pioneering force in Sonoma County winemaking for over a century. Located just a few blocks northeast of Sonoma Plaza, the winery beckons visitors with its Tuscan-inspired architecture, warm hospitality, and commitment to sustainable practices. Samuele Sebastiani, a young immigrant from Tuscany, Italy, arrived in California in 1895 with little more than a dream. He worked tirelessly, hauling cobblestones to pave the streets of San Francisco, saving enough money to purchase land and establish his winery. Sebastiani's initial focus was on producing wines for local consumption, but his vision extended far beyond. He recognized the potential of Sonoma Valley's terroir and dedicated himself to crafting wines that reflected the region's unique character. Following Samuele's death in 1944, his son August and daughter-in-law Sylvia took the reins, ushering in an era of innovation and expansion. August, a skilled and creative winemaker, introduced premium varietal wines in affordable magnums, making quality wine accessible to a wider audience. He also pioneered the introduction of "Nouveau" Gamay Beaujolais to America and created the popular blush wine, Pinot Noir Blanc, affectionately known as "Eye of the Swan". Today, Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery continues to honor its heritage while embracing modern winemaking techniques. The winery sources grapes from its estate vineyards and premier growing sites throughout Sonoma County, producing a diverse portfolio of wines that showcase the region's appellations. From the flagship Cherryblock Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon to limited-production sub-appellation wines, Sebastiani's offerings reflect a commitment to quality. Visitors to Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery are greeted by a welcoming atmosphere that blends history with contemporary hospitality. The tasting room, housed in the original stone winery building, features a tasting bar extending over 80 feet, inviting guests to sample a selection of Sebastiani's acclaimed wines. Knowledgeable staff guide visitors through curated flights, sharing insights into the winery's history, winemaking philosophy, and the unique characteristics of each wine. Beyond the tasting room, Sebastiani offers a range of experiences to immerse visitors in the world of wine. Historical walking tours delve into the winery's past, while vineyard tours provide a behind-the-scenes look at sustainable farming practices. For those seeking a more indulgent experience, Sebastiani offers food and wine pairings, including a Chocolate Indulgence pairing with artisanal chocolates and a Wine and Cheese pairing with local cheeses.
