Discover more about Oceanside Harbor Village

Oceanside Harbor Village, a captivating blend of New England charm and Southern California surf culture, has been a beloved destination since its opening in June 1963. For decades, the City of Oceanside dreamed of having a recreational harbor. The Oceanside Harbor cost approximately $7,000,000, and originally contained just 520 slips. The vision came to life, creating a vibrant hub for both locals and tourists. The harbor is home to Harbor Village, where New England vibes meet SoCal surf culture. The village's architecture evokes a Cape Cod fishing village, complete with colorful clapboard buildings and a decorative six-story lighthouse. While the lighthouse is more decorative than functional, it has an interior spiral staircase which leads to an observation deck. The Oceanside Lighthouse has become an iconic landmark. Visitors can explore a variety of shops offering unique gifts, beachwear, and souvenirs. The harbor offers a wide array of activities, including sport fishing, whale watching tours, and boat rentals. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. The adjacent Harbor Beach provides opportunities for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. The area is equipped with picnic tables, barbecue grills, and fire rings, making it perfect for a family day at the beach. The Oceanside Harbor was the home port of the USCG Point Hobart from 1969 to 1999. Its primary purpose was to provide additional security for President Nixon when he visited the 'Western White House' near San Mateo Point. The Point Hobart also provided search and rescue services.
