    Public Transport

    The Ahmanson Theatre is easily accessible via public transportation. Take the Metro B or D Lines to the Civic Center/Grand Park Station, which is one block from the theater. Alternatively, the A or E Lines stop at Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill Station, two blocks away. A one-way trip on the Metro costs $1.75, and a TAP card provides two hours of free transfers. A day pass is available for $7.

    Driving

    If driving, self-parking is available at The Music Center Garage. Enter on Grand Avenue. Parking costs $10, but rates may vary for matinee performances. Valet parking is also available for $23 at The Music Center's Hope Street entrance. Street parking may be available in the surrounding area.

    The Ahmanson Theatre stands as a beacon of cultural and artistic excellence in Downtown Los Angeles. As one of the core venues of the Los Angeles Music Center, it offers unforgettable experiences for theater enthusiasts. Built in 1967 with a donation from Howard F. Ahmanson Sr. and named after his wife, Caroline Leonetti Ahmanson, the theater was designed by Welton Becket & Associates. The inaugural event featured a production of 'Man of La Mancha'. Over the years, the Ahmanson has showcased a diverse range of performances, including dramas, musicals, comedies, and revivals of classic plays. It has also hosted world premieres of works by renowned playwrights such as Neil Simon, Wendy Wasserstein and August Wilson. The Ahmanson underwent a major renovation in 1994, enhancing its acoustics, seating, and staging capabilities. The renovation also allowed for a flexible seating configuration, accommodating between 1,600 and 2,084 patrons. The theater reopened in 1995 with a production of 'Miss Saigon'. The Ahmanson continues to attract millions of fans and boasts the largest theatrical season-ticket subscription base on the West Coast. Today, the Ahmanson Theatre continues to present a wide array of theatrical and dance performances, maintaining its reputation as a premier venue for the performing arts.
