Discover more about Bronson Caves

Bronson Caves, nestled in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, offer a unique blend of natural beauty and Hollywood history. Originally a quarry in the early 1900s, the Union Rock Company excavated crushed rock to construct city streets, leaving behind a series of man-made caves and tunnels. By the late 1920s, the quarry ceased operations, and the area was transformed into a popular filming location. Known as the "Batcave" from the 1960s Batman television series, Bronson Caves has served as a backdrop for countless Westerns, sci-fi classics, and adventure films. Its easily accessible location and unique geological features made it a prime choice for filmmakers seeking a remote wilderness setting. The main cave entrance, a short tunnel through the hill, is often filmed at an angle to conceal its shallow depth. Today, Bronson Caves is a beloved destination for hikers, photographers, and movie buffs. Visitors can explore the caves, hike the surrounding trails, and enjoy stunning views of the Hollywood Sign and the Los Angeles skyline. The hike to the caves is short and relatively easy, making it accessible to visitors of all ages. While exploring the caves, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and watch out for the sun.
