Casey Jr. Circus Train: A Whimsical Ride Through Storybook Land

Casey Jr. Circus Train, a beloved Fantasyland attraction, has been chugging along at Disneyland since July 31, 1955. Inspired by the iconic train from Disney's animated film 'Dumbo' (1941), this ride takes passengers on a gentle and scenic tour through the whimsical world of Storybook Land. Originally, the ride was a simple train journey, but with the arrival of Storybook Land in 1956, it gained a captivating backdrop of miniature homes and villages depicting scenes from classic Disney movies. Passengers can spot familiar dwellings from 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' 'Cinderella,' and 'Alice in Wonderland,' all rendered in charming detail. As Casey Jr. makes its way over happy hills and through verdant valleys, it faces its biggest challenge: an impossible hill. The ride incorporates narration from Dumbo's Circus Ringmaster, adding to the immersive experience. The train cars themselves are designed in a festive circus style, with sleigh-style cars transplanted from the merry-go-round that later became King Arthur Carrousel. Casey Jr. is one of the few remaining attractions that premiered with Disneyland in 1955. The track layout has remained largely unchanged over the years, though the train now uses more environmentally friendly fuel.
