Discover more about Forest Lawn

Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills is a sprawling memorial park and cemetery located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive in Los Angeles. Established in 1952, it is the second oldest of the Forest Lawn cemeteries in Southern California. The park was founded by Dr. Hubert Eaton, who envisioned a place that celebrated life and optimism, rather than focusing on death. He aimed to create a space as different from traditional cemeteries “as sunshine is to darkness,” filled with beauty, art, and historical significance. The memorial park is known for its rolling green hills, meticulously maintained lawns, and diverse collection of art and architecture. The Court of Liberty features statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. The 'Birth of Liberty' mosaic, composed of over ten million pieces of Venetian glass, depicts 25 scenes from early American history. The Old North Church is a replica of Boston's historic church. The Hall of Liberty American History Museum houses a 1,200-seat auditorium and a replica of the Liberty Bell. Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills is the final resting place of numerous celebrities, including Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, Buster Keaton, and Carrie Fisher with her mother Debbie Reynolds. Visitors can explore the grounds and discover the gravesites of actors, musicians, writers, and other prominent figures. The park hosts events throughout the year, including Memorial Day and Veterans Day commemorations.
