Discover more about LA Memorial Coliseum

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, located in Exposition Park, has been a Los Angeles icon since its completion in 1923. Commissioned as a memorial to Los Angeles veterans of World War I, it was rededicated to all U.S. veterans in 1968. Designed by John and Donald Parkinson, the stadium showcases elements of Egyptian, Spanish, and Mediterranean Revival styles. Since its opening, the Coliseum has hosted a remarkable array of events. It has been the home field for the USC Trojans since 1923 and has also hosted the Los Angeles Rams, Dodgers, Lakers, and Raiders. The Coliseum holds the distinction of being the only stadium in the world to host two Summer Olympics (1932 and 1984), and it is preparing to host its third in 2028. It also hosted the first Super Bowl in 1967 and Super Bowl VII in 1973, as well as a World Series in 1959. The Coliseum has undergone renovations, including a $315 million project completed in 2019, which added a new press box, seating, and amenities. With a seating capacity of over 77,500, the stadium continues to host major sporting events, concerts, and other large gatherings. Visitors can explore the stadium's history through guided tours, offered on select days. The Olympic Gateway statues at the entrance, created for the 1984 Olympics, add to the Coliseum's unique character.
