The Rainbow Bar and Grill, located at 9015 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, stands as a monument to rock 'n' roll history. Opened in 1972 by Elmer Valentine, Lou Adler, and Mario Maglieri, it quickly became a celebrity hotspot, hosting a grand opening party for Elton John. Before its rock 'n' roll era, the location was home to the Villa Nova restaurant, a favorite of Hollywood's elite in the 1930s and 40s, where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe first met. The Rainbow's clientele has included a who's who of rock legends, such as Alice Cooper, John Lennon, and Lemmy Kilmister. In the 1980s, it became a regular haunt for members of Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, and Poison. The bar has been featured in several music videos, including Guns N' Roses' "November Rain". Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead was such a fixture that he has a statue in the patio area, now known as "Lemmy's Lounge". The Rainbow offers a classic Italian menu, with dishes like chicken soup and pizza being popular choices. The venue includes a downstairs restaurant and an upstairs club called "Over the Rainbow," which features a full bar, dance floor, and DJ booth.
