Public Bus
From Pasadena, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Metro Gold Line towards Union Station. Get off at Union Station and transfer to the Metro Red Line towards North Hollywood. At the Hollywood/Highland Station, transfer to the Metro 704 Bus towards Santa Monica. Get off at Venice Blvd & Pacific Ave, and from there, it's a short walk to Venice Beach.
Light Rail and Walking
Start at the Pasadena Gold Line Station and take the Metro Gold Line towards Union Station. Get off at Union Station and transfer to the Metro Expo Line towards Santa Monica. Alight at the Culver City Station. From there, you can take a local bus (like the 33 or 733) heading towards Venice. Get off at Venice Blvd & Pacific Ave, and walk straight to the beach.
Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Pasadena. Start by heading south on Fair Oaks Ave towards Colorado Blvd. Follow the bike lanes to connect to the Arroyo Seco Bike Path. This path will take you down towards the Los Angeles River, where you can follow the bike route signs to Venice. It's about a 20-mile ride, so be prepared for a bit of exercise!
