Discover more about Burton Park

Burton Park, established in 1940, stands as the first public recreational facility in San Carlos, marking a significant milestone in the city's history. Financed in March 1938, the park quickly became a focal point for community life. The park was rededicated in June 1960 to honor Edward Burton, Sr., a long-serving councilman and mayor, for his contributions to the city. Located near downtown at 900 Chestnut Street, the park hosts various community activities, including parades, festivals, movie nights, and the popular summer concert series. The park features a softball diamond, baseball field, a large soccer field, tennis and basketball courts, bocce courts, playgrounds, and picnic sites with BBQ pits. Notably, the park's original design in 1938, constructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), included an amphitheater and an adobe brick building, reflecting the rustic design aesthetics of the National Park Service during that era. Today, Burton Park continues to be a well-loved space for recreation, relaxation, and social gatherings, drawing a wide spectrum of users throughout the year.
