Bus
From any point in Hayward, head to the nearest bus stop and take the AC Transit Line 96 towards San Leandro BART. Travel for about 15-20 minutes and get off at the Castro Valley BART station. From there, transfer to the BART train heading towards Millbrae. After a 20-minute ride, get off at the Redwood City station. Once you arrive at Redwood City, exit the station and walk north on Broadway Avenue for about 10 minutes until you reach the San Mateo County History Museum at 2200 Broadway.

If you're comfortable cycling, rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Hayward. Start by heading west on W Tennyson Road, then turn left onto Mission Boulevard. Continue on Mission Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Grant Avenue. Turn right onto Grant Avenue and follow it until you reach the San Mateo Bridge. Cross the bridge, which will lead you to Redwood City. Upon arrival, navigate to Broadway Avenue and head north for about 15 minutes until you reach the museum.

If you're near downtown Hayward, start your walk by heading towards the Hayward BART station. Once you reach the station, take the BART train towards Millbrae and get off at Redwood City station.
