Car
If you're driving, start on I-5 South. Take the exit for Mission Bay Park, and merge onto Mission Boulevard. Follow Mission Boulevard until you reach the intersection with Garnet Avenue. Turn left onto Garnet Avenue and continue straight until you see the signs for Ski Beach. There is parking available along the road and in nearby lots, but be aware that parking fees may apply during peak hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Ski Beach via public transportation, take the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus. From downtown San Diego, board the Route 30 bus at the 5th Avenue and Broadway stop. Stay on the bus for approximately 20-30 minutes until you reach the stop at Mission Bay Park. From there, it’s a short 10-15 minute walk to Ski Beach. Make sure to check the MTS schedule for bus times, and keep some change or a transit card handy for fare payment.
Biking
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops in the area. Head towards the Mission Bay Bike Path, which is well-marked and safe for cyclists. Follow the path along the bay; it will lead directly to Ski Beach. This option allows you to enjoy the scenic views of the bay while getting some exercise. Remember to wear a helmet and check for bike rental costs, which can vary.
Walking
If you are staying nearby, walking to Ski Beach is a great option. Simply navigate your way to Mission Boulevard and head towards the bay. Follow the pedestrian pathways that lead to Ski Beach. This is an ideal choice for those who want to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and possibly stop at local shops or cafes along the way. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
